3 Important Tips for Buying Chess Sets by Bradford Roegner

It's hard to know exactly what to look for in chess sets if you have never purchased one before. Luckily, we have some great tips to help you find chess sets for sale that will benefit you in all the ways you want. Just follow the tips and you will have a beautiful chess set to enjoy before you know it!

Tip #1 Match the Board and Pieces
Having a well made chess board requires equally well made chess pieces. If you are in the market for chess pieces you can pretty much buy whatever you like. However, keep in mind you want the pieces and the board to be of the same quality. You also want the chess pieces to match the board. Don't buy overly large pieces for a small board or overly small pieces for a large board.
You will enjoy playing chess more with a chess board and chess pieces that complement one another. You can buy a chess board that comes with pieces made specifically for that board, as well.

Tip #2 Buy What You Can Afford
Too often we look for the cheapest product and buy it for its supposed value. However, that is not exactly what you should do when looking for chess sets for sale. You can of course search out a bargain as long as it is a great chess set, just make sure the chess set is of high quality. The reason why you should spend your entire chess set budget rather than looking for a cheaper set is because chess sets are heirlooms. Not to mention you can enjoy the same set for all your chess games.

Also, when you play with a well made, quality chess set you will enjoy the game more. There is just something about playing chess on a finely crafted board with well made pieces. You will notice the difference immediately. And of course, a well made chess set will last your entire life.

Tip #3 What Type of Chess Set do You Need?
Another important tip to keep in mind when looking for chess sets for sale is to consider what type of chess set you need. First of all, where will you store your chess set? If you plan on storing it in a closet it doesn't matter much, but if you want to display it on a coffee table then make sure the woods match well.

Also, how often will you play chess? If you are a daily chess player then you need to invest in a very durable chess set. If you simply want a chess set to complement a table or room then you can buy a different type. If you only want to play chess when you are traveling then travel chess sets are a better choice for you. Just keep in mind what you want to use your chess set for and that will guide you to the right set.

Just follow these tips and any personal inclinations you have when looking for chess sets for sale. You will find just what you need to meet your chess playing needs as well as last you a lifetime.

By: Rachel Nunez

Now-a-days mothers should read the labels of the toys they are planning to buy for their children. Toys in the market may now have harmful chemicals mixed during manufacturing it. This may lead to the children to have a later effect on their growth such as, brain developing. For those mothers who do not want this to happen here are some tips to be helpful. First, see the manufacturer. Second, if you had heard negative news about this manufacturer research more about it before judging the product. Lastly, be more a qualitative rather than what is popular in the market that you think your child must have it. If you care for the youngster we should not base it on waht is the popular toy of the year but the benefits that the child we are giving it shall have. Toys are made for children to help them explore the world. It is made to be colorful to help them distinguish colors. It is made to have different sizes for them determine what the small is and the large. It is basically a helping tool for children in learning. Yet, we as the elder shall be narrower in buying those toys because we know what is best for them.

Some toys are expensive and because of this matter others chooses to buy those cheap tag toys in the malls or even on bargain store. As a consumer product we should not base the price tags of the toys that we are planning to give instead base it on the quality and assure us that the content of these toys are good or else it may harm the kids that we love. Thier lives are precious. They are just discovering the world that we had already seen. So, we must be wiser now.

It is not only mothers who shall be responsible on choosing what kind of toys they should buy in the market for their kids but also other persons who have intended to give such as a gift or a present. It is now alarming that this matter have shock not only to those who have siblings but also economic deficit on the side of the maker of this product.

Toys are only for toddlers for them to enjoy, have fun, and explore using this? Nope but elders also love them too because it gives joy and lighter feeling when you have it especially when it is given by somebody who are so dear to you.

As it breaking the news on the television and over the internet if you care for your children there are other ways to solve it. One is to investigate. Two, ask for those who know in the authority (example Pediatricians, Toxicologist). Third, listen in the news be more aware and alert. Finally, if you really want that your children have safe toys you can make your own homemade toys. If you have a baby who are protruding tooth or teeth you can gave them clean baby towels instead of toys for them to bite. It may lessen the pain that they are experiencing because of this sticking-out of tooth.

We must now learn from the past before its too late to blame ourselves on buying cheap tagged price toys over those expensive yet safe for your kids to play with.

Lego Star Wars History
By: Amy Nutt

Lego Star Wars has quite the interesting history when it comes to the fact that the game entertains children everywhere. It all stems from the popular plastic building blocks that can be used to build cars, space ships, buildings, and whatever a child's imagination can think up. Anyone under the age of 60 has most likely played with Legos, so that means that many of the children playing with them today have grandparents who once used their imaginations to do the same exact thing. The Lego saga began in 1932 in Billund, Denmark, where a carpenter by the name of Ole Kirk Kristiansen began a new business that made wooden toys, stepladders, and ironing boards. What no one realized at that time was that Legos had been born. It was in 1934 that Kristiansen created the name Lego, which is derived from "leg godt," which are the Danish words for "play well." However, in Latin, the word Lego means "I put together." Unfortunately in 1942, the plant burned down and Kristiansen had to rebuild, but just two years later, Kristiansen's plant purchased an injection molding machine that created plastic toys, but he was yet to invent the building blocks. It was in 1949 that the Automatic Binding Brick was introduced for sale only in Denmark and looked like a tiny plastic brick with eight or four studs. However, by 1950 the Lego accounted for half of the company's business. From then on, the Lego began spreading around the world and through the years had developed various themes such as sets that focused just on building cars or on just building buildings. The possibilities were endless. However, the Legos of today are much different than the Legos both we and our parents played with. Our children are playing with Lego theme parks, there are Lego themed movies, and there are even Lego themed video games that are based off of particular toy lines created by Lego. One of those toy lines is Lego Star Wars, which later led to the Lego Star Wars video game. The video game was first released in 2005 and is based during the prequel trilogy to the actual Star Wars Trilogy that began in the late 1970's and early 1980's. However, the game was actually released a month before the last of the Star Wars films was released. It was developed by LucasArts and Eidos Interactive for the Sony PlayStation2, the Microsoft Xbox, and for personal computers running the Microsoft Windows Operating System. It was also developed for Nintendo's Game Boy Advance. In August 2005, A Mac port was developed for the game to be played on Mac computers and in October 2005, a version was released for the Nintendo GameCube. Lego Star Wars received the Kidsworld.com award of Game of the Year and received very good reviews. In May 2005, it even peaked at the top of the charts in the UK to eventually lose its prominent spot to the Episode III game that was later released. However, its position as a top game for kids remained high for quite some time. In September 2006, Lego Star Wars II: The Original Trilogy was released and a year later was followed by a prequel game released in November 2007 called, Lego Star Wars: The Complete Saga. Some deem the Lego Star Wars video games as the coolest games in history and they consistently receive ratings between 4 and 5 stars out of a possible 5 stars on many gaming websites. The games are great for children and are a great way for the Lego legacy to live on through the electronic world. Author Resource:-> The purpose and vision of the Lego Star Wars is to inspire children to explore and challenge their own creative potential. How To Make Sure All The Toys You Buy Are Safe

by sas_autotech234
Despite very strict toy safety regulations in the United States and the United Kingdom, some unsafe toys still do slip through the cracks. It is essential that all consumers are familiar with regulations and remain vigilant when buying toys for kids.

For the most part, toy safety regulations have been very successful. Very few household accidents involve toys, and when accidents do involve toys it is very rare that the accident is caused by a defect in the toy itself. Accidents involving toys usually involve people tripping over them or using them inappropriately.

In addition, where defective or dangerous toys have made it onto the market they have been recalled quickly and publicly. However, this is no reason for parents to leave their guard down when buying toys.

Safety labels

First of all you need to check that the toy you are buying bears the appropriate safety labels. In the United States the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) mark and in Europe the CE marking signifies that the toy meets the minimum required safety standards.

After these markings, probably the next most important labels for toy shoppers to watch out for are age labels. These are an essential part of toy safety and you should always follow their guidance.

The vast majority of toys bear age labels whether they are legally required or not. All toys that are not suitable for children under 36 months must bear a prominent label stating so.

However, in general toys give guidance as to what age group they are intended for. These serve as a guide as to what age group will benefit from the toy the most, in terms of fun and development. Here is a brief guide of what kinds of toys suit different age groups:

Under three years - The biggest threat that toys pose to children of this age is choking hazard. Babies and toddlers tend to put almost everything they lay their hands on in their mouths. Because of this, very small toys or toys with small parts are particularly unsuitable. In addition, keep marbles and small balls out of their reach; be careful with inflatable toys and balloons; and avoid toys with sharp or pointy edges.

Three to five years - Children really come into their own at this age and are able for much more sophisticated toys. However, you should remain vigilant as certain toys could pose a risk to them. Avoid toys with thin plastic that might break and cause injury.

Ages six to twelve - By this age children will be able to safely play with almost any toy you give them. However, always read the instruction leaflets for maintenance guides and hazard warnings. For example, if you buy a skateboard or a bike for your child, you should also buy protective equipment. If you buy a trampoline, you will need to carry out maintenance on it regularly.

If you have children of different ages things can become a little complicated. When you have lots of different toys that are suitable for different ages you have to be super-vigilant. For a start, you should teach older children to keep their toys out of the reach of younger children.

Also, do not simply put all of the toys into one box. Have a separate toy box for each child and make sure they do not swap toys. Age labels on toys will help you to keep organized in this way.

In general, it is a good idea to be neat and tidy with toys. Having toys laying around the house is a common cause of accidents. Also, remember that children are intended to play with toys. All maintenance such as the changing of batteries should be carried out by an adult.

While toy safety labels offer a very important safeguard against dangerous toys reaching our children, it is also very important to use your own common sense. Before you buy a toy examine it yourself to make sure that it is sturdy and well constructed. Also check to see if it has any sharp edges or pointy corners. Be extra careful when buying toys for very young children. For example, if you are buying a cuddly toy make sure that all the stitching is secure and that small items such as eyes or the nose are not loose.

If your child has an accident with a toy or you suspect that a toy is dangerous, you should take immediate action. The first step is to take the toy out of the reach of all children. You should then report the toy to the relevant authorities. You will need to keep the toy for examination and you should also try to provide details of when and where you bought the toy.

The regulations go along way towards ensuring the toys in or shops are safe. However, consumer vigilance is also a vital part of the battle against dangerous toys.
